Perimenopause & Menopause Group: Fall 2024
A therapeutic group for people going through perimenopause or in early menopause, to offer support for the psychological impacts of this stage of life.
Are you a person in your 40’s or 50’s that has or has ever had ovaries*? Do you feel like you are maybe losing your mind a little bit? Did you read All Fours by Miranda July and contemplate blowing up your life? Do you find yourself inexplicably filled with rage, in situations that previously left you unphased? Is your sleep impacted by anxiety? Are you experiencing grief about the loss of your youth and concerned you’re turning into a husk of your previous self?
For the past few years, I have been observing my patients in the perimenopausal and menopausal stages of life exhibiting many of these characteristics, and have been researching ways to alleviate the psychological symptoms of this stage of life. My expertise is in the mind-body connection, and I will be bringing this perspective to this 8 week in-person therapeutic group. We will use somatic techniques to lower stress, process grief, alleviate anxiety and find emotional and mental stability. The group therapy setting will allow participants to both receive and provide support for other people in their exact phase of life, and to share resources.
I am a licensed mental health provider, but as this is very much a physical process, there will be occasional experts brought in to the group to provide insight on various aspects of the perimenopausal and menopausal stages. This will include herbalists, acupuncturists, medical doctors, sports medicine professionals, and nutritionists.

*FAQ’s:
Q: Why does the description say “a person in your 40’s or 50’s that has or has ever had ovaries”? Why not just say women?
A: This group is for all people experiencing perimenopause and menopause, even those who do not identify as women. For example, transgender men and nonbinary individuals who were assigned female at birth will still go through menopause. You do not need to identify as a woman to participate in the group, you simply need to be going through this specific phase of human development, which all people who were born with ovaries will experience.
Q: I’m not sure I’m in perimenopause or menopause. Should I still do the group?
A: All inquiries will receive a consultation call from me, to make sure you’re the right fit for the group. In that call, I may suggest getting your hormone levels checked by your health care provider. As I am not a medical doctor, I can’t diagnose anyone with perimenopause or menopause, but I can treat the psychological symptoms greatly associated with this phase, and I am skilled in assessment as to whether or not the root causes are an actual disorder, or simply a stage of life change. To set up your consult call, please fill out the contact form.
Q: Will there be a virtual option?
A: I may offer this group virtually in the future, but this initial series is in-person, for maximal participation and connection. If you are interested in a virtual group, please still inquire - I can add your name to a waiting list for when I offer the group online.
Q: What is your Covid protocol?
A: I work with windows cracked and a HEPA filter on. I ask that all participants be fully vaccinated from Covid-19, and I stay up to date on my vaccinations. If you have symptoms of Covid, are sick with something possibly contagious, or have been knowingly exposed to Covid that week, I will ask you to stay home, and, if permitted, I will record the section of the group that is a presentation, and send it out to you afterwards. If I am sick or have been exposed to Covid that week, we’ll move the group online.
Q: Do you offer refunds?
A: The fee for the group is for the whole series. If you cannot make it on a particular week, even if you know ahead of time or if you are sick, there are not specific refunds for that date. However, if you attend for the first week and decide not to continue the series, you will be refunded for the remainder of the sessions, $350.
